Hi all, my name is Tim Bai.

I have worked as a software engineer for about a decade, across different areas in AI and Web and both big corporate and small start-ups. I have joined Quantiacs Long Short Quantitative Trading competition in 2024 with my ‘solid’ software engineering and data ML background, with blessing, my long-only algorithm won an allocation of $50k, after that I have learnt and researched more in finance, FinTech and investing, this takes a big chunk of my spare time now and started to use my engineering skill to power quantitative analysis and trading. Back to the trading algorithm, my algorithm achieves a 2.88 Sharpe Ratio in live trading (by September 2025) (which is surprising good, it means you get 2.88 return for 1 risk in the market).

FinTech and Trading

After I have won the allocation, I have read more and learnt more about FinTech, investment and trading, my co-founders and I have bootstrapped a project, TradeInsight.info, it is a service to provide users insight information from politicians and company insiders, the project is inspired from Peter Lynch.

“Insiders might sell their shares for any number of reasons, but they buy them for only one: they think the price will rise.” — Former Fidelity Manager Peter Lynch

It is growing slowly. 🙂 Now for TradeInsight.info, I spent more time to communicate, building new features and providing more insight information to customers.

Something Else

Previously, I worked in a local AI start-up focusing on NLP, NER and LLM Integration, and now it has been acquired by a larger US corporate now, which is working towards to be listed on NASDAQ.

I have collected some boring certification badges in my career so far. 🙂
